About Javier A. Moreno Bothwell
JAVIER MORENO was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He proudly serves as the in-house Lead Electrician at Stages, where he's worked since March of 2021. His Lighting Design with credits with Stages include Laughs in Spanish(Co-produced with TheatreSquared), The Bride (2023), Panto Little Mermaid(2021). During the COVID pandemic, he also co-designed Stages Studio Sessions 2.0: John Ryan Del Bosque & Carolyn Johnson, and supervised the build for the light rigs for every Stagesproduction since starting with the company. He holds a Master of Fine Arts, specializing in Lighting Design, from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and a BA in Theater Technology from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras.
From 2018 to 2021 he worked as an IATSE lighting technician and board operator for the Cleveland Playhouse, working on such shows as Sweat (2018), An Iliad(2019), Pipeline (2019), and the world premiere of Tiny Houses (2019).During his undergraduate years, he traveled to the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Theatre Festival with his University’s Traveling Theatre company. Javier describes himself as a quintessential jack of all trades, though clearly he favors lighting. On his off time he enjoys Salsa dancing, photography and video games. Javier is a proud Eagle Scout and a relentless perfectionist who prefers to be “hands-on” with his work. Currently he resides in Houston TX.
